Three detained by the PSP, in several towns in the Algarve, for robbery and theft

On 23rd March 2017, the PSP of Faro detained, a foreign citizen, 33 years old, for theft inside a commercial establishment.

Police were alerted by a member of the public that a person had entered and left several times from a shop in downtown Faro. The PSP immediately went to the scene and surprised the suspect hidden inside the dressing room.

The person admitted theft and indicated the place where he had transported the stolen goods, which meanwhile were recovered and delivered to the victim. It should be noted that they were many garments, namely dresses, valued at around € 7000.

Also the same evening, around 8 pm, the PSP of the Airport Security Division detained a 60-year-old Portuguese citizen in the baggage room at Faro International Airport for theft of a suitcase containing various articles and money, amounting to about € 1500.

Following the complaint, immediate action was taken to collect images and testimonies that confirmed the theft and enabled the subsequent interception of the suspect who was still in the vicinity.

All stolen goods and articles were recovered and handed over to the victim.

In Olhão, around 10:30 a.m., the city’s PSP detained a 33-year-old Portuguese national, following an attempted robbery by snatching a wallet,

The victim, a 76-year-old Portuguese woman tried to resist, fell to the ground, but managed to hold onto her wallet and scream for help. Following the screams a Portuguese citizen, 32, who passed by stopped and held onto the suspect until the arrival of PSP agents.
