An off duty military personnel was stabbed and three colleagues were wounded around 0400 hrs on Friday 4th July after an argument outside a nightclub in the city of Tavira.
The PSP has identified two suspects and is making efforts to find the rest. The sergeant and three colleagues No 1 Infantry Regiment based in Tavira were near the Mood nightclub, on the Estrada das 4 Águas , near the banks of the River Gilão, when a group of five men, of African origin, confronted the army personnel.
After an arguement between groups, tempers began to flare and this turned into violent confrontation. One of the army personnel was then stabbed his comrades also suffered injuries and were all transported to the Hospital of Faro. Three of the personnel were discharged the following morning except the one who was stabbed who remained hospitalized in the hospital under observation.
An Army General Staff source said that an inquiry would be instituted into the into incident.
