On 20th March a patrol from GNR Loule arrested a Portuguese citizen aged 35 years for robbery and driving a motor vehicle without legal authorization.
In the afternoon, they observed a person driving a motor vehicle listed as stolen on the EN 125 near Almancil heading towards Faro.
The patrol followed the vehicle and when safe to do so intercepted the driver.
On checking the vehicle and driver a number of stolen items were discovered in the vehicle including: an IMac, two iPad’s, an Apple keyboard, LCD and two mobile phones. These had been reported stolen earlier that day during four thefts that had taken place from outlets located in Almancil and Gambelas – Faro.
In addition to the theft of these items, the vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen about a month earlier. Other objects seized were those used in the commission of the offenses, including a crowbar lanterns, gloves, keys-of-cracks, wrench and a cordless drill, among other such tools.
The individual, resident in Almancil with a criminal records by the same type of offense, is to be presented to the Department of Investigation and Penal Action Public Prosecutor of Vila Real de Santo António to implement appropriate enforcement measures pending trial.
